Autograph letter, signed by William Ellery, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, for Rhode Island, to his son-in law William Stedman; addressed by Ellery on verso, docketed in pencil in another hand to same. Creasing from old folds; light offsetting from wax seal. In mat and in double-pane glass frame, 11 1/8 x 16 5/8 in. (282 x 422 mm).
William Stedman (1785-1831) was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts and husband to Ellery's daughter Almy (1759-1839), one of the Founding Father's 19 children.
